History of our Rooms
In February 2002 negotiations were successfully concluded
with the Derwent Valley Council for the Club to lease a
building in the historic Willow Court precinct for use as
its clubrooms. This was the first time the Lions Club of New
Norfolk had a permanent home. Members, partners and friends
of the club contributed some 1500 hours to refurbishing
the building and there was considerable expenditure
primarily for security.
The building was officially opened jointly by District
Governor Bryan Smith and the Mayor of the Derwent Valley
Councillor Nick Cracknell in May 2002. The members
of the Lions Club of New Norfolk would like to thank all
those who helped the Club obtain such magnificent
clubrooms.
When the building was sold as part of a package to a
developer who wished to develop the whole complex it was
agreed that our building would be leased back to the
council so that we would be able to continue to make use
of it.
The club has since purchased the building and is currently
planning further upgrades to permit us to better utilize
it.
